https://hcd.ffarmasi.unand.ac.id/index.php/hcd/article/view/17

Yoneta SrangengeSanubari Rela TobatAnnisa FauzanaDini HanifaDira HefniPuspa Pameswari

2025-12-312025-12-31201Training on Making Instant Powdered Drink from Ginger for Residents of the Aru Indah Complex, Lubuk Begalung, Padang
https://hcd.ffarmasi.unand.ac.id/index.php/hcd/article/view/14

With the changing times, a multitude of beverages have emerged, offering numerous health benefits. In Indonesia, many health drinks are commonly consumed, including ginger drinks. However, due to their time-consuming preparation process, these drinks have been replaced by more practical alternatives. Furthermore, ginger drinks have become less appealing to young people who prefer more modern beverages. To address this issue, an innovation was implemented: creating an instant herbal drink using ginger as the raw material. This activity aimed to provide information on how to process ginger into an instant powdered drink to residents of the Aru Indah Lubuk Begalung Padang complex through training. The activity began with outreach and continued with hands-on training through technology application with assistance. The results were that residents gained information and were able to replicate it independently. This allowed residents to easily enjoy the benefits of ginger drinks, and this could become a business opportunity to increase income, especially for women.

Dira Hefni

Limited health literacy, including improper medication use and low ability to utilize natural ingredients, remains a challenge within the community. To address this issue, this community service program aimed to enhance public knowledge and skills through a series of educational activities, including DAGUSIBU counseling, disaster mitigation education, home visits, Junior Pharmacist activities, a pharmaceutics workshop, and a herbal biology workshop. The methods involved counseling, demonstrations, hands-on practice, individual assistance, and pre–post evaluations. A total of 41 participants attended the main activities, 39 students joined the Junior Pharmacist program, and 8 residents received home visits. Evaluation results indicated significant improvements in medication literacy, disaster preparedness, basic formulation techniques, and the safe utilization of herbal products, with 72.7% of participants categorized as having good understanding. Overall, the program successfully enhanced both soft and hard skills and strengthened community health awareness.

Keywords: health education, DAGUSIBU, home visit, junior pharmacist, herbal workshop
Dwisari Dillasamola
